Arajuno Road Project

Blogs for the Arajuno Road Project, teaching English in the Amazon of Ecaudor

My time in the Jungle

I arrived in Puyo- well i say Puyo, but the not wholly inspiring bus
terminal is a bit north of the main town- and was met by Simon one of
the coordinators, wearing a trademark polo shirt and driving the
even-more-trademark red and rusty jeep of the project, and we headed
into town. there i met another coordinator, Vini who´s also working
here at the moment.

A Volunteers Perspective

I arrived at the Arajuno Road project after spending a few weeks in Quito, so living in the jungle was going to be a completely new experience and I couldn’t wait. A friend had just spent a month on the same project so she told me all about it and sounded so excited that I knew it was going to be great. She wished that she could have stayed longer which is now what I'm looking into because I dont want to leave!

This week in the Jungle

.. it´s Monday, as we arrive at km22 school at 7.30am , the kids spot the big red jeep and run up shouting "good morning teacher", they all want to be picked up and spun around!.. Classes run until 12.30, and everyone (including volunteers) gets a rice meal around 10.00

My great experience with the community work

Wednesday volunteers have the opportunity to help with community work. That’s why I decided to help the community and experience more of the beautiful jungle.
